It also has the signature black casing and the bright red accents and differs mostly on the internal components. Inside you have an Intel i7-7820HK processor and 64 GB RAM which can clock in at 2.9 GHz which is slower, but still impressive. The two Nvidia GT 1070 SLI is also a nice treat with each having an 8GB GDDR5 card.

Its 4TB SSD and 1TB HDD storage are on par with the top-of-the-line MSI gaming laptops. It’s also equipped with the Rapid Mechanical RGB Keyboard which has a 1.5 mm actuation and 3 mm total key travel distance which improves in-game reaction time. Much like the previous two laptops in this list, the GT7UR is also Virtual Reality games-ready.

4. MSI GT63 TITAN-048

Gaming is becoming ever more portable. With an increasing demand on smaller yet just as efficient systems, MSI has brought up the MSI GT63. It has the same Titan pedigree as those in its product line, albeit a smaller screen at just 15.6-inches. Equipped with an Intel i7-8750H and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, it delivers an impressive performance for something of its size.

Furthermore, the GT63 also comes with new technologies such as the HDMI 2.0b and Bluetooth 5 to name a few. This device only weighs 6.39 pounds and has a decent battery life. However, it does not have the Thunderbolt 3 which could have made it more appealing.

True you have to give up a few inches of screen space and a bit of RAM, but who’s complaining when you get a solid laptop that can play even the most demanding games out there.

5. MSI GS65 STEALTH Thin 0054 Pro Extreme

Skinny laptops are the new sexy, or at least according to MSI. The GS65 Stealth is the first thin bezel gaming laptop under the 144Hz bracket and among the first ones to be equipped with the 8th generation 6-core Coffee Lake processor. Adding in an NVidia GeForce 1070 Max-Q brings out a higher frame rate and a virtual reality experience unlike no other. Put it simply, you can put the game at its highest settings and it won’t still lag on this laptop.

The Stealth is also designed to be sleek with gorgeous gold accents over its black, matte aluminum alloy skin. The 15.6-inch screen has the usual 1920×1080 pixels resolution. However, it can reproduce the sRGB color gamut at a 150-percent rating. Additionally, this laptop’s panel has 293 nits of brightness which brings out the full detail of the game’s graphics. The built-in Nahimic speakers also complement the visual prowess perfectly. Many of the Stealth systems from MSI also follow this formula of ultra-thin but powerful notebooks.

6. MSI GE73 RAIDER RGB-012 Pro Extreme

If colorful gaming laptop is your thing, then you will love the MSI GE73. For a true eye candy experience, this laptop’s keyboard was splayed with colorful LED-lit keys. The top cover is also adorned with multi-colored accents on each side of the brand’s logo. Looks, however, is just the tip of the iceberg for this gaming machine.

At its heart is an Intel i7-8750H, which is the latest 6-core 8th generation Coffee Lake processor that can run up to 2.2 GHz. Paired up with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB of video memory and you have a system which can deliver solid performance. The 17.3-inch screen compliments well with its 1920×1080 resolution.

  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB

  • Top-performing hardware

Cons

  • Smaller SSD
  • Poor touchpad
  • Subpar TN display panel

Verdict

Overall, the MSI GE73 is one of the best systems in its class. It has reliable hardware coupled with a head-turning keyboard. The system’s fast refresh rate is also one of its defining features. While the smaller SSD storage and inferior TN display panel are its main weaknesses, it still has a lot to offer in terms of performance and added components.

7. MSI GE63VR RAIDER-075

You can think of the GE63VR as a toned-down version of the MSI GE73, given that it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that the Pro Extreme package offer. Despite this fact, you can’t take away the gaming pedigree from the GE63VR.  Brandishing chromatic keys and will all the pixels you want for your gaming, this laptop deserves a spot on this list.

Its quad-core Intel i7-7700HQ matched with a 32 GB DDR4 RAM can run up to 3.8 GHz when turbo-boosted.  Moreover, its 15.6-inch screen has a decent 1920×1080 display with 3ms response time and 120Hz refresh rate. The laptop also has a USB 3.1 type C port, mini Display Port, Killer Gb LAN, an 802.11 ac Wi-Fi connection and a 720p HD webcam.

  • Lighter than most gaming laptops

Cons

  • Poor battery life
  • Performance doesn’t quite fit its tag price
  • Touchpad does not have “click” feedback

Verdict

Overall, the MSI GE63VR Raider fits the bill as a mid-level gaming laptop. The system’s game performance is pretty solid and every gamer will appreciate its silky smooth gameplay. However, it has tons of competition in the segment which can give it a run for your money.

8. MSI GP63 LEOPARD PRO

The MSI GP63 is a gaming laptop that can also act as your workstation. This laptop has an impressive hardware performance, but at a lower price than most systems in this list. However, much like most laptops in its category, the GP63 LEOPARD has to compromise some components to get into this price range.

While it does have the 7th generation Intel i7-8750H processor and a 16GB RAM, it falls short on its graphics card. MSI settled on equipping it with a Nvidia GTX 1060 with 8GB memory, which is a bit of a letdown since it’s not VR ready. Performance-wise it’s in the middle of the pack, while battery life is tested at around 3 hours and 30 minutes. Its saving grace, however, is its crisp display which its manufacturer describes as on par with in-plane switching (IPS).

Specs

  • Screen Display: 15.6”
  • Processor: Intel i7-8750H
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GTX 1060 8GB
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Storage: 1TB HDD

  • Has a clear IPS-like display
  • Can work as a gaming laptop and workstation

Cons

  • A low frame rate of only 46fps
  • No SSD Storage
  • A bit more expensive than its competitors

Verdict

Overall, the MSI GP63 Leopard is a very flexible gaming system that can adapt to your needs be it gaming, work or other tasks. The crispy display and overall portability are also great features that are hard to come up with in this segment.

9. MSI GL62M 7-REX

Sometimes you don’t just want your gaming laptop for play, but also for work. The GL62M 7-REX provides a great balance of business and pleasure. It may not have the eye-catching design as its high-end brothers but the black matte finish and dragon sigil prove its MSI heritage. While it’s a budget machine, it has plenty of ports for you to convert it as your portable gaming station.

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 has an average of 32fps which can play most games at acceptable phase, except for some AAA games. The Intel i7-7700HQ has a decent 2.8 GHz speed and overall the laptop just barely makes it in the average performance of entry-level gaming laptops. The laptop also heats a bit faster and has a short battery life of only 3 hours and 30 minutes on average usage. Webcam and audio sound also have a lot of room for improvement.

Specs

  • Screen Display: 15.6”
  • Processor: Intel i7-7700 HQ
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050T
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage:  256GB HDD

Pros

  • Cheaper than most entry-level gaming laptops
  • Comes with a 7th generation Intel processor
  • Solid performance both for work and gaming activities

Cons

  • Gets warm pretty quick
  • Weak audio volume
  • Dim display

Verdict

Entry-level gaming laptops can still provide you with good gaming experience as we see in the GL62M 7-REX. While its dim display and subpar audio may be an issue for some gamers, it’s hard to find a system on this price range that is as well-equipped as this gaming laptop.

10. MSI GV62 7RC

One of the most prevalent issues with gaming laptops is their price. For this reason, we included in this list what we think is the system that offers great value even with its affordable price. The MSI GV62 7RC is priced like your typical workstation laptop, but make no mistake that it can play even the latest game titles with ease.

The combination of the 2.5 GHz Intel i5-7300HQ and Nvidia Geforce MX150 may not be as impressive as the rest in this list, but it’s plenty enough to do the job. The TN screen has an excellent rating of 97.8% in the sRGB color gamut and has great response times without any stuttering. It also has decent speakers and plenty of ports to boot.

Specs

  • Screen Display: 15.6”
  • Processor: Intel i5-7300HQ
  • Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce MX150
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage:  128GB SSD + 1TB HDD

Pros

  • Almost half the price of most gaming laptops
  • Decent gaming display
  • Lightweight and portable

Cons

  • Less powerful hardware
  • Poor color contrast
  • Outdated processor

Verdict

Overall, the MSI GV62 7RC is not as bad as you think. The gaming display is still solid and the i5 processor’s speed is within the acceptable range for some games. Its affordable price, however, means that it has to cut down on some components. If you’re not very picky and has a limited budget, it’s one of the first laptops you should consider.

MSI might not be among the big boys in the PC and laptop industry; however, it has proven to be a strong contender in the gaming niche. They offer some of the mind-blowing gaming systems on the market today, and many of their products have proven to be both cool looking and have great in-game performance.

Tips When Buying an MSI Gaming Laptop

Choosing a laptop that fits your gaming lifestyle and other computing needs can be a rigorous task. There are tons of things to consider especially if you are squeezing every bit of value out of your hard earned money. However, you shouldn’t compromise about certain computer components that make your gaming experience awesome.

Below are some tips on how you can get the best MSI gaming laptop with your current budget:

  1. Choose a laptop with at least a 7-generation Intel processor no lower than the i7-6700HQ for a great gaming performance. It should be paired with a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU or higher so you can play the latest gaming titles.
  2. Find a high-resolution display laptop that is larger than 1920×1080. This will give you the best visuals and will capture even the smallest details of the game.

  4. Invest in a Solid State Storage (SSD) as it makes the game’s load time and installation faster. Many of the MSI laptops listed here have this built-in feature.
  5. Check if the laptop’s keyboard is comfortable and can withstand some serious button mashing.
  6. Battery life should at least be decent. The laptop should also have its cooling system or at least doesn’t heat up when playing a game.
  7. Finally, choose a laptop with an HDMI 1.3 port so you can play virtual games with an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.
